What IMEX 2025 Taught Us About Event Design, Human Connection, and the Power of Presence

October 2025

IMEX 2025 made an IMPACT 2.0. Not just in theme, but in truth. This year felt more intentional, more human, and more connected than ever before. From the design of the learning spaces to the flow of the conversations, everything seemed to invite us to slow down and look closer at what really drives impact: people.

I came into IMEX prepared with my SPARK. My framework helps me bring energy, presence, and meaning into every session, and this time it grounded me through each cue and connection. The space itself felt alive, buzzing with curiosity and openness that turned ideas into movement.

What Made IMEX 2025 a Turning Point for Event Design

Everywhere I looked, I saw reminders that our industry is evolving. We are no longer designing events that simply fill rooms; we are designing experiences that transform the people inside them.

I loved my sessions on impactful marketing and the way human behavior drives connection. I listened to powerful conversations about community, belonging, and grace — about loving in our work environments, building trust, and lifting others up to reach their full potential.

The learning spaces themselves reflected this shift. They were designed for discovery and dialogue, not just presentations. IMEX offered programming that spoke to both the business and the heart of our work. The emphasis on human connection made every session feel alive.

Lessons from the Stage

“We’re in the goosebumps business.” — David Adler, Founder of BizBash That line stayed with me long after I read his IMEX recap — so much so that I used his words as the voiceover for my own wrap video. Because that is exactly what we do: design for goosebumps, connection, and change.

Some of my favorite moments were the quiet nods from the stage when I could see that a message had truly landed. Working with future leaders reminded me of the power of honesty and encouragement. I found myself saying things I wish I could have told my younger self: you belong, your voice matters, and your dreams are worth chasing.

IMEX reminded me that we are designing human-centered experiences that create ripples of impact — for the individual today and for the next generation shaping tomorrow’s industry.

The Feeling We Take Home

IMEX has always been about connection, but this year it felt cosmic — like being part of an orbit we all share. We can shine individually, yet together we create something brighter. When we mix, nothing but light comes from it: new stars, new paths, new possibilities.

I leave IMEX 2025 with gratitude. Gratitude for an industry that keeps showing up. For colleagues who lift one another. For the privilege of using my voice and my SPARK to bring people together. My first IMEX as CEO reminded me that I am part of this galaxy, and the impact we make together is endless.
